This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Oakland is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Oakland is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Authentic Filipino food unlike the other "Filipino" restaurant in Oakland (iykyk). Nilagang baka was great!!! Also enjoyed the bangus. I wish there were more veggie dishes on the menu like pinakbet though. Glad to find an authentic Pinoy place in the East Bay! Only downside is the long wait time. I ordered through door dash and they took more than an hour to prep and deliver the food.

I ordered kare kare with beef and beef nilaga and both were really salty. I know these dishes are eaten with rice (which btw I ordered 2 orders of rice but only got one container which I assumed they combined but not sure if I got the amount I paid forπ€·π»ββ). So, yes I tried eating it with rice and it was still salty! I had to add alot of hot water to the nilaga soup and a bit to the kare kare sauce to make it palatable to eat! π The beef for both dishes were tender at least. I was really looking forward to loving this place since it's the closest Pinoy spot to my house but I guess it's a one and done with this one. I even had to wait almost 30 mins past the time they said my order was going to be ready and standing around at a ghost kitchen storefront devoid of human connection and some kind of bugs (flies?) flying around in the middle of the waiting room longer than necessary kind of dampened my appetite. Anyway, so $27 for kare kare with missing sitaw green beans and odd choice of cabbage in lieu of bokchoy and $24 for nilaga soup that I have to water down in order to eat is definitely not it.

There is not enough good things I can say about Tipunan food, service, and hospitality - JUST GO HERE! This is some of the best food Iβve had in a while - period. And Filipino comfort food on top of that makes it even better. Everything we had was bursting with flavors and the extra sauces on the side were bomb. If I lived closer Iβd order every few weeks - everything is delicious and memorable Sinigang - tamarind base with the pork ribs - SO GOOD. Pork belly adobo with quail egg the best Iβve had. Tapsilog so balanced sweet and salty!! Sisiglog with fresh chilis so good but even mild is spicy so beware Bilo bilo best Iβve had Lumpia - enough said - so yummy Thanks to Jojo and team for being rockstars! Hospitality 5 out of 5 stars and food 6 out of 5 stars :). Your friends from Tahoe/Oakland will be back PS new location in a ghost kitchen so pick up from lobby where they bring the food down (we ordered straight from the website) and few outdoor tables to dine

Delicious Filipino food from some dedicated chefs! These pics are from my first order with them; it was all very good and extremely needed on a bad day. On my second order, I went to pick up in person and the people running this joint turned out to be so friendly! They gave me pointers when I confessed I was new to Filipino food, and appropriate containers had holes or were open to the air so crispy food didn't get soggy (like the lumpia!). My favorite so far is the sinigang--so rich with such depth of flavor, but not heavy. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu.
